What you are buying

You build a signature card in your browser, you pay for it, and we render it for real and host the images it is made of. There is no software to install and no account to make. What you get is one page at an address of your own, with your finished card on it and a Copy button under it.

What the subscription pays for

Starter is $2 a month, One time is $9 one time, Membership is $39 billed yearly, charged by Stripe. A one-time purchase pays for twelve months of hosting; a subscription pays for hosting while it runs. It is not a licence fee for a file you keep. The card you paste into your mail is a small piece of HTML that points at images on our server, and we serve those images every time somebody opens one of your emails.

If the subscription ends

This is the term worth reading twice. The images stop loading, and not only in mail you send afterwards. In every mail you have already sent that carries the signature, going back to the first one, because each of those is still asking our server for the pictures. The words in your signature stay where they are. The moving parts stop arriving.

Starting the subscription again brings them back, at the same addresses, with nothing to re-paste and nothing to rebuild.

One honest caveat about how fast that happens. We stop serving the images the moment Stripe tells us, but a mail program that has already downloaded them may keep its own copy for a while, and Gmail and Outlook both put your images through a proxy that caches them where we cannot reach. We ask every one of them to check with us again within five minutes. Some of them will hold a picture longer than that, and that part is not ours to control.

Cancelling

Any time, from Manage billing on your order page, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Stripe handles the cancellation and tells us, and our side changes as soon as it does. Whether the period you have already paid for runs to its end is set in that portal, and the portal tells you which it is before you confirm.

Refunds

It is five dollars. If this is not what you expected, write to us within 30 days and we will refund you and stop the subscription. We would much rather do that than argue about it.

Changing your card

A new job title, a new website, a photograph you like better: write to us with your order number and we rebuild it. There is nothing extra to pay. There is no self-service editor yet, which we would rather tell you here than have you go looking for one.

Your order page is the key

There is no account and no password, so the address of your order page is the only handle you have on your signature. Bookmark it, and keep it to yourself: anybody who has it can change your card or cancel your subscription. It is not the address your images live at, and it is not in anything you paste into an email, so sending somebody your signature never sends them this. If you lose it, write to us from the address on the card and we will find it for you.

What we cannot promise

How any particular mail program draws your signature is not ours to control. Gmail and most webmail play the animation. Outlook on Windows freezes it on the first frame by design, which is exactly why the first frame of every card we build is the finished artwork rather than an empty one. We test what we can reach and we tell you what we know, and we cannot promise a specific result in a program we have never seen.

What you upload

Upload artwork you are allowed to use. If a logo is not yours to hand out, that is between you and whoever owns it. We render what we are given.

Stopping it from our side

We would stop serving a signature that impersonates somebody, or that is being used for something illegal. Those are the only reasons, and we would write to you before doing it.
